4/2/2019 0 Comments SynchronicityI was ordained during an evening prayer service this month. I started the ministerial credentialing process about 6 months prior to starting my fertility journey and I fully anticipated that I would be pregnant or have had a baby by the time this day came; it's roughly a 3 year process that starts after earning a seminary degree and took me about 3.5 years to complete. Admittedly, I've poured more energy into fertility preparation and treatment over this time and am kind of in awe at how the credentialing process unfolded alongside the fertility process with relative ease. I'm grateful that I had the focus, energy and support needed for my writing, meetings and interviews when I needed it. And given that I've often chosen to prioritize fertility over these years, I've sometimes forgotten how big a milestone this is. In addition to the enormity of making holy vows, my ordination marked a few firsts in my family and faith tradition. While it felt somewhat bittersweet to mark this milestone without a little one in my life, it was a meaningful celebration that allowed me to use some of my excess creative energy to write liturgy, sew a mandala and crochet a shawl. I'll be very curious to look back at this time in my life at some point and make meaning out of the synchronicity once I have the perspective of hindsight.
